2026 Kidding Season

Kidding began in January 2026 with breeding groups continuing to kid in February, April, and May/June. As decisions on retention and sales are made, a note is added next to each kids name if they are AVAILABLE, PENDING, SOLD, or RETAINED.  Sale information can be found on this page:

100% New Zealand Twins Born Apr 24, 2026

IAD Caycee is a favorite doe at the ranch.  She is an easy keeper and an excellent mother.  Genetic testing will need to confirm the sire of these beautiful doelings since Caycee kidded near the gestation transition of when we switched LCLL Alloy Brass and KCR Kopf Canyon Cold Iron in the breeding pen.  We are thrilled with these little doelings and will retain both this year for performance observation as we continue to refine the development of the 100% New Zealand Kiko portion of our herd.

Panna doesn't do anything by halves.  When she wants to get out, she works on a gate to try to figure out the mechanics of a latch. When she wants the best food, she plants her 150 to 190 lb self in our way.  When she doesn't want to go, she lays on her side, becomes dead weight, and raises an eyebrow at us.  She is the difficult and precocious doe we keep around because her body condition and mothering skills are too fantastic to send packing.  I watched (hands off) her kid two of her three kids.  She definitely wins the tongue Olympics for drying kids the most efficiently and fervently.  She worked on her triplets all day, incessantly licking them and patiently waiting while they fumbled with her ample udder.  No, Panna won't be making the sale list this year either...even though we think about it sometimes when she opens the gate and lets the goats out!

Purebred Kiko Doeling Born Apr 12, 2026

This was an unintended pairing when Parlay slipped into the breeding pen with LCLL Alloy Brass, who is now the sire and grandsire, at 6 months old.  She kidded this singleton in the field at 11 months old.  The Livestock Guardian Dog, Pearl, and Parlay had the doeling dried off and doing well despite the wet, chilly day, combined with an overly young first freshener dam.  Despite being a doeling herself when she kidded, Parlay is providing enough milk for her doeling, Savvy, to produce 0.4 ADG gains.  Savvy will be offered later in the season as an unregistered commercial doeling.

Although this is Hekla's 2nd freshening, it is only her first at our ranch.  We were thrilled with how she handled kidding and her mothering skills.  A textbook Kiko, she kidded twins within a half hour, dried them off efficiently, and had them nursing right away to get the good colostrum.  All of this we watched while we were out of town over a barn cam installed nearby.  Her beautiful kids are a delight to the eyes and a tickle to watch play.

KRC Karaoke was a favorite doe during her first kidding season with us last last year.  If she had kidded doelings, one or more likely would have been retained this season.  We retained all three of her triplets last year.  Karaoke is a hardy, easy-care doe with excellent hooves and FAMACHA.  She handles kidding and mothering easily, and is extremely protective of her progeny. This year we received all bucklings from Karaoke.  They will be evaluated as buck prospects in the coming weeks.

Victory's first freshening produced healthy twins, a doeling and a buckling. In the footsteps of her dam, LCLL Surrender, Victory's ample milk supply is supporting her kids well.  Victory easily kidded unassisted while we were away from home and she had them all dried off, ready to display upon our return.

Surrender had a massive 53 lb. gain during her pregnancy, weighing in at 206 lbs. right before kidding.  This is her 3rd freshening and she did not disappoint with her 1st set of triplets which she kidded unassisted.  She efficiently dried them off throughout kidding and got them up and nursing, demonstrating her excellent mothering instincts consistent with the Kiko breed.

Cornflower's ability to raise big, quality kids, was much anticipated this year.  Unfortunately, her son, SMRL Bomb Cyclone, had a very short opportunity to breed her when a gate was left open, and he was quite successful.  Cornflower kidded twin doelings unassisted, and has supported them well.  These doelings will be available unregistered later this spring.  They are spunky, cute little kids, that are thriving on their dam's generously-sized udder as our only set of twins so far this season.

We knew that Solara would be a fabulous dam based on her gentle "Auntie" disposition towards all of the doelings from 2025, however her first freshening of triplets was a beautiful example of just how hands-off Kiko's are.  We came home to dried off and nursing, vibrant kids.  All that was left for us to do was to weigh, tag and give them their BoSe shot...and of course provide human snuggles.

This is Leeli's 1st freshening and kidded her triplets unassisted.  One doeling is being raised with her cohort as a bottle baby.  She will be a tremendously affectionate and human-bonded doeling available later this spring.
