Herdsires
Herdsires on our ranch must be able to thrive with minimal inputs, live in a small herd of males, yet be intrepid enough to forage the far reaches of their containment area. Their hooves receive a biannual check and adjustment, but no more, so they need to be low care. Bucks must be non-aggressive with their head and horns towards us, or they will not reproduce here. The handling of the goats is run primarily by women on our ranch and a leg injury prevents speed and agility for one of us. Kiko bucks can approach 250-lbs and more at mature weight, so along with scrotal size, clean teats, ease of gain, desirable body structure, excellent hooves, and parasite resistance, temperament is another primary factor for buck selection on our ranch.

LCLL Alloy Brass
Alloy Brass is a 100% New Zealand buck from ZVA Brass Tacks and MJI F0985 (Missouri). Alloy came to us in the fall of 2024 as a junior herdsire from Lampa Creek Livestock and has outperformed our expectations. In 2025, his first season, He produced 4 sets of triplets, 1 set of quads, and 3 sets of twins. Despite being white, he produced a considerable amount of color. He is an intrepid and aggressive forager but can easily be handled when necessary and is respectful with fencing and people.

SMRL Bomb Cyclone
This Purebred American Kiko buckling from LPR North Wind and KCC Cornflower made his arrival on the ranch as a big, 8.6-lb twin along with his 9.0-lb sister and has maintained steady 0.5 ADG gain throughout the winter. Bomb Cyclone will be tried as a herdsire this fall with a few of his own does. He has an excellent temperment, is easy to handle, and maintains an excellent body condition in a variety of foraging environments.
